About our history
It all began in 2010, when five friends, 
united by their love and respect for the Amazon, decided to protect 45 hectares of forest next to the Taricaya Ecological Reserve (within the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve. a key biodiversity hotspot on our planet ). That first act of commitment gave rise to Amazon Planet Ecolodge: a place where travel becomes purpose and conservation a living experience shared with every guest. rainforest.
Purpose
Our purpose is to awaken consciousness through transformative travel experiences that reconnect people with nature while actively preserving the Amazon rainforest.
Amazon Planet works in direct partnership with the Taricaya Ecological Reserve, a conservation area dedicated to protecting biodiversity in Madre de Dios.
We are responsible for managing responsible tourism within Taricaya, and part of every stay directly supports its conservation projects.

How to Get to Amazon Planet
1. Arriving in Puerto Maldonado
Puerto Maldonado (PEM) is easily accessible from Peru’s main cities:
- From Lima: Direct daily flights (~1h 45m) with LATAM or SKY.
- From Cusco: Short direct flights (~45m) or safe overnight buses (~9h).
- From Puno: Daily comfortable overnight buses (~9h).
- From Arequipa: Flights available via Cusco or Lima.
2. Transfer to the Lodge
Your Amazon adventure begins the moment you arrive. We take care of the rest:
- Reception: Complimentary pick-up from the airport or bus terminal upon arrival.
- Scenic Boat Ride: Enjoy a 1 to 1.5 hour safe boat trip down the Lower Madre de Dios River.
- Full Service: Round-trip transfers are included in your stay to ensure a worry-free journey.
To ensure a standard transfer, please arrive before 3:00 PM and schedule departures after 11:00 AM.
